While I absolutely love photographing weddings, couples, and elopements, I also love documenting people exactly as they are in a season of life. That is exactly what this North Shore Oahu lifestyle session felt like. Instead of a wedding dress or engagement ring, this shoot was all about showcasing my friend Rose, her personality, her creativity as a tattoo artist, and of course, her adorable dog!

Exploring the North Shore of Oahu
For this North Shore Oahu lifestyle session, we spent the afternoon exploring some of my favorite spots around the area. The North Shore always has a relaxed energy that feels impossible to replicate anywhere else. Between the beaches, mountains, palm trees, and little local businesses, there is inspiration everywhere you look.
Rose is a tattoo artist on Oahu and the creative energy she brings naturally translated into the photos. Because this wasn’t tied to a specific event, we had the freedom to slow down, wander, and create without a strict timeline. As a result, the entire session felt effortless and fun!
I always encourage clients to choose locations that actually feel like them. In this case, the North Shore was the perfect fit. Not only does it reflect the laid-back island lifestyle, but it also gave us a variety of scenery throughout the session.
Beach Photos with a Personal Touch
One of my favorite parts of this North Shore Oahu lifestyle session was incorporating Rose’s dog into the photos. After all, our pets are such a huge part of our lives, so why not include them?
Watching the two of them relax on the beach together created some of the sweetest moments from the day. Instead of overly posed images, we focused on genuine interactions. Because of that, the photos feel personal and authentic. The beach gave us the perfect backdrop as the waves rolled in and the afternoon light softened.
