Lillian and Steve already knew they wanted to get married on Oahu. After getting engaged at Diamond Head the year before, they fell even more in love with the island and decided to come back for their wedding. This time, they brought Steve’s son Dominic along for an intimate elopement on Oahu that felt relaxed from beginning to end.

When Lillian first reached out, she told me that she and Steve wanted their wedding to feel organic, intimate, and full of movement. They were drawn to my photography because they did not want their photos to feel overly posed. Instead, they wanted to remember how the day actually felt!

How Their Love Story Started

Before getting to Hawaii, Lillian and Steve had a pretty classic meet-cute. They met at work when Lillian was the new girl and Steve was the IT guy. Naturally, that meant there were plenty of opportunities for them to run into each other in the hallways. Whenever Lillian’s computer needed an update, Steve would come by, and the two would nervously smile at each other. Eventually, those hallway moments turned into something much bigger!

By the time they planned their wedding, they had already been together for six years. They even share the same birthday, which is such a fun little detail about their relationship!

Choosing an Elopement on Oahu

Oahu was not a random destination for their wedding. The island was already part of their story because Steve proposed to Lillian at the top of Diamond Head the previous spring. After that experience, they knew they wanted to return! So, rather than planning a traditional wedding back home, they decided to keep things simple. It would be just Steve, Lillian, and Dominic.

I think that is one of the best things about an elopement on Oahu. You can build the day around what actually matters to you instead of trying to make the wedding fit a specific expectation. For these two, that meant coming back to a place they loved and making another important memory there.

Kualoa Ranch | The Perfect Backdrop for Their Elopement on Oahu

Their elopement took place at Kualoa on Oahu’s windward side. The landscape gave us an incredible setting, but what I loved most was how naturally the three of them interacted with each other. The day did not feel like a long series of posed photos. Instead, there was room for everyone to move around, explore, laugh, and enjoy being together. That was especially important because Dominic was such a meaningful part of the day. Lillian had told me before their wedding how much she adored him. She described him as adventurous, innocent, and loving, and you could absolutely see that connection once we were together!
