Golden Gate Bridge Engagement | San Francisco

Couple at engagement photos in San Francisco

Golden Gate Bridge Engagement

Engagement photos in front of the Golden Gate Bridge?? YES PLEASE! I was so stoked when Eunice and Charles reached out for a shoot in Marin Headlands at sunset. San Francisco is such a fun place, and the bridge is a gorgeous backdrop for any photo! The hike up Slacker Hill can be an adventure all in itself (it’s STEEP!) and these two had the most running around the hills holding hands as the sun set and the fog rolled in.

Golden hour

People often ask what time to book a session at, and I will ALWAYS recommend sunset! The soft glow of the setting sun produces the most dreamy photos! While the exact time changes based on the month and daylight savings, always plan for the hour-ish before the sunset. It’s a good idea to show up early to your session as well, especially at popular locations where parking can be a hassle. And it’s not a bad idea to stick around for a little bit after the sun sets, dusk can be SO DREAMY. Even if you’re not taking photos, sit back and watch as the sky transform colors.

If you have a shoot where the sun doesn’t show up, be flexible and don’t be too disappointed! Overcast weather can produce epic and moody pictures too. Especially when you’re shooting in a foggy place like San Francisco, you really have to be adaptable to any kind of light! If you find that the sun is SUPER bright and there’s no shade in sight, try and find a spot/position where the couple is backlit. This can produce some gorgeous sun flares, and create a warm ambiance in the images! This session we got a mix of both sunny and foggy, making it the perfect California engagement session!
