Some sessions stick with you forever, and this one absolutely will! Aly originally reached out to book a sweet couples shoot on the North Shore of Kauai. She chose Tunnels Beach as the backdrop (which is one of the dreamiest places ever!). But little did she know, Chris had something else in mind.

Shortly after we confirmed the session, I got a separate email from Chris. He was planning to propose during the shoot and wanted to surprise her! Cue the happy tears already. We quickly came up with a plan and went over all the little cues and moments so it would flow naturally.

The Big Moment at Tunnels Beach

Tunnels Beach was definitely showing off that evening. Soft golden light, lush cliffs, and the gently rolling waves. As we moved through the shoot, I gave them easy prompts to help calm their nerves. Especially Chris’! They told me they were super anxious about posing (plus they confessed they took a couple shots in the car beforehand to chill out… iconic). But honestly? They totally rocked it.

Eventually, Chris gave me the subtle cue we planned, and I set them up in the perfect spot. He dropped to one knee, and Aly’s reaction was everything. Pure joy. Shock. And just so much love.

First-Timers Turned Pros

Even though this was their first shoot together, you’d never know it. With a little direction and some light-hearted prompts, they eased into it so beautifully. It was the kind of session that feels like hanging out with friends. I received the best feedback from them too!
