Keaton and Cole’s Kaneohe Bay Sandbar wedding felt like something out of a dream from the very first moment. Instead of walking down an aisle on land, they stepped straight into the ocean. And honestly, it was just as magical as it sounds! We took a boat out into the middle of Kaneohe Bay sandbar on Oahu, and as we pulled up, the mountains sat quietly in the distance while the water shimmered around us. Because the sandbar only appears at low tide, it truly feels like you are standing in the middle of the ocean. That alone makes a Kaneohe Bay Sandbar ceremony unforgettable.
As their photographer, I always encourage couples to lean into their location. So when Keaton told me she was open to getting her dress wet, I knew we had to fully embrace it. After all, how often do you get married with your feet in the water?

Their ceremony actually took place in the ocean, which still gives me chills! While the water gently moved around them, they held hands and exchanged vows. Because we worked with @lovealwaysweddingshawaii, everything flowed seamlessly. Meanwhile, @oahuflowertruck created the most organic, coastal bouquet filled with creamy roses and lush greenery. I loved how it included subtle ocean-inspired elements that tied the whole look together!
Keaton wore a Grace Loves Lace gown that felt perfect for a Kaneohe Bay Sandbar wedding. The lace details added texture, yet the silhouette stayed effortless. And since the dress trailed behind her in the water, it created the most romantic movement in photos. It was one of those moments where everything just works!

After the ceremony, we hopped back onto the boat with @oahuboatpicnics, which added such a fun and intimate vibe to the day. Because we were already out in Kaneohe Bay sandbar, it felt natural to keep celebrating right there. The wind picked up slightly, so her veil and bouquet moved with it, which made the portraits feel alive. At one point, Cole wrapped his arms around Keaton from behind and kissed her cheek while she laughed. Those are the moments I live for. They are unposed and full of emotion.
Later, as the sky shifted into deeper blues, we captured silhouettes and even a few blurred motion shots. Although some frames were intentionally soft, they felt cinematic and nostalgic. Sometimes imperfection adds so much character!

There is something about a Kaneohe Bay Sandbar wedding that feels adventurous yet peaceful. Because you are surrounded by water, distractions disappear. Instead, the focus stays on the couple and the experience. From a photographer’s perspective, I love how the mountains frame the horizon while the ocean reflects soft light. Even when the clouds roll in, the mood becomes romantic rather than gloomy. And honestly, that overcast glow is flattering and timeless.
