Kelsey and Diego got engaged in Big Sur, California. After that, they knew they wanted to have a Big Sur Wedding. Big Sur is a stretch of the California coastline in Monterey County. There aren’t clear boundary lines for it, but it’s roughly within the region between Carmel and San Simeon. It’s a beautiful place, with dramatic rocky cliffs overlooking the ocean, and so many nice beaches!
Kelsey and Diego found a great venue at the Hyatt in Carmel. Their ceremony spot is outside on a redwood deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s just a short walk down from the hotel, where both the reception hall and the getting ready rooms are, making it convenient for both the guests and the wedding party. Because it’s a hotel, they were able to take care of not just the ceremony and reception, but also the catering, rooms for the wedding party to get ready in, and room blocks for all the guests. They also handle all the details from seating arrangements to centerpieces. And there is a beach nearby where we did the couple’s sunset portraits. It’s the perfect Big Sur wedding venue!
“Diego and I met at work! We both started our careers at Allegiant as financial analysts. There were a lot of young analysts that were new to Las Vegas so we all formed a group of friends. Over time Diego and I started hanging out more one on one and he eventually asked me out by setting up a beautiful candlelit dinner at a park overlooking a beautiful mountain in our area. I was super nervous as I had never been in a serious relationship, but I said still said yes! I never questioned our relationship once after I got over the nerves of saying yes that day. We moved in together after dating for less than a year because we just knew we were in it for the long run. We adopted two dogs shortly after that and bought our first house together less than two years in!
Diego proposed right before our four year anniversary. He had planned to do it in Ecuador but unfortunately it was planned for 2020. So we had to cancel because of the pandemic. He still wanted to propose that year though, so we went on a beautiful more low-key trip to Big Sur, CA! I thought it was an early anniversary trip, but Diego planned it as an engagement trip instead! I was definitely surprised though I had my suspicions because Diego doesn’t usually plan much ;P He got down on one knee at Garrapata State Park overlooking the ocean. It was perfect! The location was magical. We both blacked out a bit when he asked because we were so nervous – which is so funny because we both knew the answer would be yes!”
